STATISTICS
As of the 31 December 2009, there were 389 children under 18 in Somerset (163), Hunterdon (35), and Warren (192) Counties who were removed from their parents' care.
These children were removed for a number of reasons, including abandonment, abuse/neglect, parental drug/alcohol abuse, financial problems, inadequate housing, parental incarceration, mental disability, and physical disability.
Of these 389 children, 168 of them were able to benefit from the services of a CASA volunteer during 2009 in Somerset and Warren Counties. Plans are currently underway for CASA SHaW to expand into Hunterdon County by July 2010.
